It was another mixed day on Wall Street at tech stocks moved higher while most everything else pulled back. At the close the Dow was lower by 223 at 28,430 while the NASDAQ was up 79 at 11,775. Trading volume on the Dow was down 4% while it was higher for the NASDAQ indicating the market rally continues unabated.
Shares of both Apple and Tesla split today and both were higher. Apple did a 4-1 split while Tesla did a 5-1. These splits are the first significant stock splits in over a couple decades. Bullish investors feel the splits will boost shares as small investors buy stock while bears feel that once the split happens investors will take some gains off the table and pare back on the number of shares they own. So far the bulls are winning as Tesla bolted 12% today while Apple gained 3.3%.
The scout trip went well. All the lunkheads finished strong but after a couple of days the adults were wondering why they packed so much stuff. The weather was perfect for the trip and the Olympics were smoke free and beautiful. The trip was organized into two groups. One started at Quinault and ended at Elwha and the other started at the Elwha and ended at Quinault. We are planning on offering the newer adults a free Troop 100 “R.O.C.Ks” Class (Reduce Over-Concentration of Krud”) which is about how to pack a backpack for a long hike.
